The Ernst David Kuhlo Horn

Here is one of my very favorite instruments as well as a big hit with my children! A European Kuhlo Horn! It is a sort of German flugelhorn or wing horn that was developed by Pastor Edward Kuhlo, for brass choirs in Protestant churches in Northern Germany in the 1880s. I don't think it is an early instrument.

It's unusual oval shape makes it quite unique in my collection. My son refers to it as the "water mellon horn". The instrument arrived in fair condition. It has many dents and a lot of bad places. I was able to remove several dents without "rippling" the metal. Normally, I document everything with pictures, but this time, I did not. The metal is relatively soft and you can manipulate it pretty easy. I would be doing 100 if I had proper tools. I documented the "unwrapping" and you can check it out by clicking on the kuhlo!
