Here is the latest acquisition to my old instrument collection. It ia a rotary valve trumpet from Dusseldorf, Germany. It is also an Ebay find. Of all the instruments I have purchased using Ebay, this one is my current favorite. The previous owner listed it as an antique tuba, but I suspected it may well be a bass trumpet. It has an interesting patina I will probably leave on the horn. This instrument is in very good condition. There are a few nicks and dings here and there but nothing major. It is missing an oil screw but I think I will be able to find another one somewhere. It plays GREAT! This one has an unusual layout of the tuning slides and a nice streamlined shape.
BASS TRUMPET UPDATE!
A word about Brite Dip... DON'T
Seriously, if you like the patina look, don't get talked into having your instrument bright dipped. It's ugly, cheap looking and... Brite! It looks like a shortcut from having the instrument buffed... a cheap spray paint look... Totally bump...
